Annoying Voices

In my Voice and Articulation Class, I had to find a persons voice I did not like and re-record it using tactics and methods we learned to make their voice better. I decided to use Sarah Palin's campaign speech in Nevada.

We were then asked to write a rationale describing what we changed and what we learned over the course of the semester.

Everyday we hear different kinds of voices from our teachers, parents, friends, and even strangers. However, there are people with voices that you absolutely dislike and makes you cringe. Some popular voices that make people squirm when they hear it are Fran Drescher, Paris Hilton, and Steve Urkel.
The person I dislike at the moment would be no other than Sarah Palin. While listening to different voices, I came across Palin’s voice, and cringed. I choose to do one of her campaign speeches in Nevada where I thought she sounded very unpleasant. Even though, I understand at the rally there were probably a lot of people, she sounded way too loud and over emphasized certain words that were unnecessary. On the other hand, she didn’t emphasize certain words and phrases that needed to be emphasized. For example, when she introduced the state motto,“ all for country,” there was no pause or inflection to make that connection. I had to listen to it a couple of times to understand what she meant, and in a setting like a campaign, your speech needs to be concise and well-articulated so people can understand it the first time around...
