Welcome!
Welcome to my blog! My name is Nicole Becker and I'm currently a sophomore at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. I am a double major in Education and Communications with a minor in Speech.
For me, the biggest passion in my life is the ability to make a difference. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to become a teacher and turn my love of learning into a love of teaching. This love of learning has grown over the years and has inspired to me to want to work in inner-city schools. I know I will not only be making a difference but hopefully changing lives.
I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York and I've been exposed to the truths behind inner city schools. Also, I have recently volunteered at Princeton Young Achievers, which is an after school program that helps children from low-income neighborhoods get the attention they deserve. Even though many say I'm crazy for wanting to teach in an urban environment, I just think of all the lives I will be changing. There are many challenges that come with this career path but I feel with my determination, hard work, and passion I will achieve my goals.
I am also very passionate about my Communication major and speech minor. In the past two years, I have realized that almost everything I've learned in those classes, I can use in the classroom as an educator, everything from technology to public speaking.
After graduating in 2012, I plan on going to graduate school for education administration and hopefully become a New York City principal.
